At least Spielberg understands…

I’ll save my money for the Raiders of the Lost Ark Blu-Ray http://www.reelz.com/movie-news/11794/steven-spielberg-promises-not-to-alter-e-t-or-raiders-of-the-lost-ark-for-blu-ray-release/ Does George Lucas have a good editor inside himself anymore? Tweet

Fantastic Four #1 turned 50

The first Silver Age Marvel comic turned 50! http://robot6.comicbookresources.com/2011/08/50-years-ago-today-fantastic-four-1-changed-the-comics-world/ Four people hop into a space rocket and were doused with Cosmic Rays, giving them amazing abilities… and one gets pretty screwed by the deal. Why is the Fantastic Four relevant? Aside from this being the first comic book series to capture what made this age of Marvel great, flawed heroes, my favorite Fantastic Four character is The Thing. He hardly has much to brag about. Unlike the other three, this poor bastard was permanently disfigured by the experience. His origin... Read full article →

My first website logo

Logo design from my first website that I have on file. I wonder how many hours were spent in Photoshop filters for just the "right amout" of shininess.

Wii U

Just don’t care much what anyone names their devices anymore (Wii and iPad name jokes ended when they sold like hotcakes). Wii U? Tons of parents will call it Wii 2 in confusion, which would sound a bit better, or plain, simple Wii HD or get retro and call it Super Wii! It won’t matter. I also don’t care much about hardware specs of consoles (aside from core ones like disc format for versatility for movies, HD space and as long as it includes wifi), because most serve as marketing... It really shouldn’t be this hard to buy a Nexus S

My wife and I stopped by Best Buy tonight for her to check out the Nexus S. She really likes the service and value T-Mobile offers in our area and would like to extend the contract to upgrade to a nicer app phone from her current aging Blackberry Curve. I’m fine with Android on T-Mobile, since, unlike Android phones on AT&T, she can participate in the new Amazon Android AppStore. For those who don’t know: Nexus S is a slick Samsung Android phone that was the first to ship with... Read full article →

Cable TV providers should be worried

In all the iPhone 4 hoopla, I missed the announcement that Netflix is launching a “free” (with subscription) iPhone app this summer to go along with their iPad one. I wouldn’t be surprised to see an Android app in 6-12 months, if they can work out a deal with Verizon, the biggest Android device service provider. There will probably be a paid Hulu service to compete pretty soon. It’s interesting that the paid subscription of Netflix has become a huge disc/stream content distributor, while TV networks like NBC and Fox... Read full article →

Hard to believe this is the same company that created the Walkman

It’s just a bunch of Johnny Come Lately products in the mobile division of Sony these days. When they get ambitious, it’s a PSP Go, an attempt at following Nintendo’s lead of portable gaming hardware iterations, but strips away functionality for a higher price. http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/25/sony-exec-says-psp-go-did-confuse-consumers-might-have-been-t/ A strong gaming device that’s a phone would be great. The N-Gage was an epic failure and Apple’s gaining ground in the casual gaming/phone device, but without buttons, it’s hard to do much more than simple gameplay mechanics. It’ll be a nice niche device, if... Read full article →

Capcom making retro-style original games is a cool trend

Capcom’s embraced the era of 8-bit gaming with the release of Megaman 9 and 10, but the stroy of Dark Void Zero takes it a step further. I love the idea to release an original 8-bit Dark Void game to coincide with the PS3/XBox 360/PC release ads a level of clever viral marketing, including a fictional back story that it’s a long-lost NES era original. The little details of extra effort make it even more interesting. “Box” art styled like the awful Mega Man NES box art that didn’t at... Read full article →
